摘要: Abstract Submicron-sized crystallites of lead, tin, indium and bismuth were melted in situ the modified specimen chamber a Siemens transmission electron microscope. Melting point size determinations made directly from dark field images crystallites. Particles exhibited melting points that decreased with decreasing particle size. A near-linear relationship was observed for as function reciprocal radius. Thermodynamic expressions based on significant contributions surface energy to free system also suggest linear relation. Other factors, such shape contamination, affect size-dependent particles. Crystallites extended platelet did not exhibit depression point. Elevated residual gas pressures found lessen spherical
