摘要: This study examined the hydrological impact of harvesting aspen (Populus tremuloides) within subhumid Boreal Plains Alberta, Canada, following clear‐cutting two stands in successive winters a small catchment situated glacial moraine. Impacts were evaluated using combination observational data collected from harvested and an adjacent reference numerical simulations conducted with HydroGeoSphere. Sensitivity influence post‐harvest evapotranspiration rates variability atmospheric conditions on range hydrologic response. Study results indicate that had limited groundwater levels streamflows these systems because climate low frequency large storms, soil‐moisture storage capacity heterogeneous materials, high regenerating aspen. Despite estimated increase hillslope up to 3 m, pond peatland water increased by less than 0.3 m accompanied 10 mm. However, predicted increases sensitive rates, which can be enhanced appropriate techniques but may reduced change. These are consistent previous differ studies other settings where appreciable have been reported. disparity highlights need consider integrated response system when evaluating impacts disturbance making comparisons between settings.
