摘要: In South India, the WNW-striking ~ 130-km-long Achankovil Shear Zone (AKSZ) separating Trivandrum Block and Madurai is speculated to continue within southern Madagascar in East Gondwanaland. Two aspects be debated, whether AKSZ a terrain boundary shear zone, if so, when accretion occurred. We present, for first time, detailed field-based analysis of contrasting mesoscale structures deformation kinematics granulite facies rocks across AKSZ. The mineralogical segregation layering (S2T) sub-horizontal gently inclined describes F3T regional-scale open asymmetric WNW-trending folds. By contrast, S2M steeply plunging F3M Both blocks share NNW/NNE-trending sub-parallel sinistral dextral S3 shears Deformation microstructures garnet-bearing melt-hosted syn-S3 extensional attest persistence high temperature during D2–D3 deformations. Monazite chemical dates existing Pb–Pb zircon are overwhelmingly Pan-African AKSZ, but Paleoproterozoic (2.1–1.8 Ga) Block, equivalent those reported Anosyan Androyan domains Madagascar, lacking Block. Mid Neoproterozoic (800–750 Ma) Antananarivo domain (Central Madagascar), structural–chronological contrasts between two suggest zone system that continuous with Ranotsara Madagascar. [248]
