摘要: 1. To examine the way in which information from different visual submodalities is integrated inferior temporal (IT) cortex of monkey, we studied relationships between color, shape, and pattern selectivities individual neurons IT two awake macque monkeys. Neurons were recorded while each animal performed a fixation task. For neuron, analyzed selectivity for contour textural using preselected standard sets stimuli, namely colored geometrical shapes with certain patterns. 2. About thirds (62%) single whose activities anterior part cortex, included ventral bank superior sulcus, responded to one or more stimuli used. An index (stimulus index) was calculated neuron quantify how well cell discriminated preferred stimulus least set stimuli. The index, as statistical significance variation responses within given set, used classify selective not submodality. Of quantitatively, 69% 68% 82% pattern. 3. that tested respect color 45% both 50% either only 5% shape. These frequencies significantly those predicted occurrence nonselective submodality if independence shape assumed. We also found preference does depend on stimulus. results indicate there no overt interaction these neurons. 4. compared pattern, 58% 38% 4% There correlation degree neurons.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 400 WORDS)
