Urine screening for leucocytes and bacteria by dipstick and reflectance spectrophotometry.

摘要: In order to develop a rapid and reliable method for screening large numbers of urines leucocytes bacteria dipstick was used with colorimetric reading colour changes reflectance spectrophotometer. One thousand consecutive urine specimens were tested by that using single leucocyte esterase, nitrite, blood protein in parallel routine methods enumeration microscopy quantitative culture bacteria. Results the four tests taken together had predictive values 83.7% positive test evidence infection 97.2% negative result. The false rate 1%. Of 191 significant bacteriuria (greater than 10(5) organisms/ml), 10 negatives testing, representing 5% all infected urines. Elimination need on would reduce workload 36%.
