摘要: [1] The seasonal variations of the Northern Hemisphere annular mode (NAM) are investigated through empirical orthogonal function analysis zonally averaged geopotential height fields for each individual calendar month. Patterns winter and summer NAMs differ not only in but also mean meridional circulation eddy structure. NAM has a smaller scale is displaced poleward as compared to NAM. antinode on lower-latitude side at nodal latitude more strongly related surface air temperatures over Eurasia than original Arctic Oscillation. wave-driven internal atmospheric that maintained by both stationary transient waves. associated with front, polar jet, storm track around Ocean. winter-to-summer linkage described M. Ogi et al. can be interpreted preferred transition from one polarity same mode. spring cryosphere, i.e., snow sea ice Barents Sea, plays supporting role this transition.
