African horse sickness in Zimbabwe: 1972 to 1981

摘要: During the nine years from October 1972 to September 1981 African horse sickness (AHS) virus was isolated 23 suspected cases of disease in Zimbabwe and complement fixation antibody titres indicative recent infection were detected a further 49 horses. The isolations belonged seven known serotypes AHS virus. In response questionnaire 1980 owners 20% (1,654/8,000) horses indicated that they had recorded 207 clinically diagnosed with 107 deaths 1975 1980. Fifty-six 50 occurred foals many other which been vaccinated. It concluded immunity induced by vaccine maternal warranted investigation.
