摘要: Although geosynthetics are often used in soil reinforcement applications, there currently no methods for estimating reliably the stresses within reinforcements at working load levels. This paper summarizes design of a new laboratory device, referred to as Automated Plane Strain Reinforcement (APSR) cell, which measures maximum tensile stress that develops center single planar inclusion due shearing surrounding soil. The cell can accommodate wide range reinforcing materials and be equipped with additional instrumentation measure distribution strains and/or inclusions half-lengths up 450mm. Test data, obtained an instrumented steel sheet embedded Ticino sand, demonstrate capabilities APSR measuring load-transfer Simple closed form solutions based on shear lag analysis describe accurately measured elastic inclusion. device provides capability compare characteristics different classes geosynthetic materials.
