摘要: This special issue introduction explores the need to study information systems as symbolic action systems, defines broadly research domain and related assumptions, notes origins of this perspective, articulates its key lines study, discusses state field in light published research. The essay also positions three papers broader Information Systems (IS) discourse their specific contribution bridging so far unconnected streams expanding methods amenable introductory furthermore observes some unique challenges pulling together that invited editors combat against tendency approach communicative processes associated with primarily psychological processes. In closing we note several inquiry can strengthen future studies including better design theories, more flexible open use methods, attentive rich traditions inform IS.
