摘要: Social movements can continue in hostile political climates by adapting abeyance structures, that is, disengaging from active challenge to the state on policy matters focus instead preserving enduring values and identity. But doing so be politically costly. In this article we provide a theoretical framework for understanding outcomes of movement abeyance, drawing recent work opportunity structure domains. We present more developed model social which includes not only retreat engagement, but also fragmentation broad coalition, use examine women's 1980s. then look at costs two areas: family leave fetal protection.
