IP restoration vs. optical protection: Which one has the least bandwidth requirements?

摘要: Abstract Survivability in IP-over-WDM networks has already been extensively discussed a series of studies. While many studies assume an IP restoration scheme and focus on network connectivity order to ensure proper recovery, few deal with optical protection. We investigate this question the objective estimating respective bandwidth requirements both recovery schemes, subject single or multiple failures. also design mixed scenario where is taken care at different layer depending type Results shows that protection by far most economical terms requirements.
