The Stellar Dynamics and Mass of NGC 1316 Using the Radial Velocities of Planetary Nebulae

摘要: We present a study of the kinematics outer regions early-type galaxy NGC 1316, based on radial velocity measurements 43 planetary nebulae as well deep integrated light absorption line spectra. The smoothed field 1316 indicates fast rotation at distance 16 kpc, possibly associated with an elongated feature orthogonal to inner dust lanes. mean square stellar is approximately independent radius, and estimated total mass system 2.9 × 1011 M☉ within radius implying mass-to-light ratio M/LB 8.
