摘要: The results of arthroplasty the hip and other surgical procedures that were performed in nine patients who had sickle-cell disease or trait osteonecrosis femoral head not very satisfactory. After an average duration follow-up 6.5 years (range, two to 25.7 years), complications many severe. Of eight arthroplasties done for replacement a joint, five required early revision excision: two, because mechanical loosening; sepsis; one, due fracture prosthetic stem. There was excessive perioperative blood loss, prolonged hospitalization, medical all patients, including three only slight manifestations systemic disease. A survivorship analysis this series indicated failure rate 50 per cent could be expected by 5.4 postoperatively.
