摘要: Abstract Environmental stress conditions are ultimately related to the induction of oxidative in organisms, as a consequence an increased production reactive oxygen species (ROS). This could be exploited study sub-lethal effects induced by environment organisms. In present work, we evaluate possibility use colonial ascidian Botryllus schlosseri bioindicator, assess environmental quality Lagoon Venice. Three colony batches were immersed, for 22 days, at two sites (1 and 2) with different grades hydrodynamics anthropogenic impact physico-chemical features seawater; control batch was kept large tank continuous seawater flow Marine Station Department Biology, University Padova, Chioggia (site 3). Seawater site 2 had higher pH temperature than 1. Colonies then retrieved, their mRNA extracted level transcription genes involved response (glutathione synthase, γ-glutamyl-cysteine ligase, modulatory subunit, isoforms glutathione peroxidases Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase) evaluated. colonies from 1 2, most showed significantly transcriptional levels respect values. Spectrophotometric analyses homogenates revealed that enzymatic activity dismutase catalase compared 1, allowing us speculate under those Overall, can conclude B. schlosseri seems good indicator ecological status environment, within range which used live.
