Des ruptures de stock aux conséquences parfois graves : l’exemple de la phénytoïne, à propos de 7 cas

摘要: In 2012, in France, phenytoin sodium was used as a substitute for base during shortage at the dose of 100 mg mg, according to French Health Agency recommendations. However, this substitution problematic because two specialties were not bioequivalent. We report here case 29-year old woman who presented with severe epilepsy. The by induced an increase seizure frequency leading several hospitalizations and sick leave. Phenytoin finally available again 2013 which allowed reduction frequency. Six similar cases, including one death, reported pharmacovigilance system. Drug shortages are increasingly common can have serious consequences. Reporting difficulties that drug causes health authorities is important order improve their management better support patients.
