摘要: [1] The Utah State University (USU) Global Assimilation of Ionospheric Measurements (GAIM) model has replaced the Parameterized Real-Time Specification Model (PRISM) for operational use at Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA). Validation by Research Laboratory therefore passed from sanity checking stage to investigations accuracies and limitations when it is used generate Operational Space Environment Network Display (OpSEND) products. This paper presents results an extensive analysis errors in USU-GAIM specifications key ionogram characteristics foF2 M(3000)F2 21 ionosonde locations distributed around world, 9 Australia 12 other countries, September 2006. The ground-truth observations are manually scaled hourly values. values Australian ionosondes, filtered autoscaled ionosondes. provides representative latitude-dependent median both characteristics, together with maximum usable frequency standard 3000 km HF communications circuit. In general, GAIM performs well all locations. seem be a function availability data nearby GPS TEC sites, accuracy program's background ionosphere, validity assimilated data, rather than any assimilation technique.
