摘要: This paper reports a micropatterned variable inductor that utilizes ferrofluid as the movable magnetic core. Ferrofluid is displaced over planar using field provided by another “actuation” coil aligned to inductor, varying permeability distribution on control its inductance. Superimposing bias uniquely enables repelling of fluid from well switching between and attracting motions simply changing direction driving current actuation coil. Microfabricated devices are tested reveal repelling-mode operation provides 6.1 × larger inductive changes than those available with mode. The continuous modulation inductance demonstrated tuning range 16% input currents up 1.2 A. Frequency resonant tank formed device also show 76-ppm/mA frequency sensitivity current.
