摘要: Behavioral variant Frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) is a neurodegenerative syndrome characterized by profound changes in personality and behavior, including social disinhibition, loss of empathy, apathy compulsive behaviors. While cognitive decline does occur (typically beginning with executive dysfunction), these issues tend to emerge mid-disease course, rather than early on. Onset insidious, typically between ages 45-65 prevalence equal Alzheimer’s disease (AD) individuals under the age 65. Despite significant advancements our understanding bvFTD over past 12 years, misdiagnosis remains common. For example, subset initially receive diagnosis early-onset AD, or late life psychiatric disturbance. Given their expertise assessment cognition, behavior emotion, neuropsychologists can play an important role differential management this disease. This chapter begins up-to-date discussion clinical, neuropathological genetic features disease, then moves into review neuropsychological literature. A structured key aspects cover provided, case example ‘typical’ patient presented.
