摘要: A sixty-year-old female presented for a routine eye checkup. Her best corrected visual acuity was 6/6 in both eyes. Slit lamp examination after pupillary dilatation displayed vivid multi-coloured glistening opacities the otherwise clear lens of her left (Fig. 1A). magnified view using direct focal illumination revealed spectacular array polychromatic needle shaped crystals traversing all directions and cutting across natural limits fibres, located deep cortex anterior nucleus lens, giving appearance coloured lights decorating branches as on Christmas tree 1B). The colours varied according to angle incident light. In retroillumination only dim outline cataract seen. right unremarkable. patient had no other notable ocular or systemic abnormality. diagnosis uniocular ‘‘Christmas tree’’ made. excellent acuity, advised regular follow-up.
