Studies of Free Radical Polymerization Initiated by Visible Light Photoredox Catalysis

摘要: A visible-light-induced free radical polymerization has been developed. Distinct from living polymerizations, this process is not controlled in the chain growth step but initiation step, by situ generation of a constantly low concentration initiator radicals. “On”–“off” experiments demonstrate ease controllability process, which indicate that it may be an improved method for polymerization, since can initiated immediately powering on light, without any preheating reaction mixture, and also sharply stopped turning off cooling process. By adjusting photo irradiation strength, temperature, amount system, molar mass as well conversion rate accurately tuned, easy to realize other systems. Notably, high 5.64 × 105 g mol−1 (Đ = 1.71) achieved with new methodology.
