摘要: Ruta graveolens L. (Rutaceae) are traditionally used for the treatment of rheumatism, arthritis and other in- flammatory conditions in traditional medicine India. The purpose this study was to investigate anti-inflamma - tory anti-oxidant effects methanolic extract adjuvant induced rats. Methanolic (MER) exhibited maximum per- centage oedema inhibition at a dose 20 mg/kg on 21st day arthritis. effect higher than that standard drug indomethacin. activities cycloxygen- ase-2 myeloperoxidase concentration thiobarbitu- ric acid reactive substance (TBARS) were decreased antioxidant enzymes, vitamins C & E reduced glutathione level increased with MER. increment ESR total WBC, reduction RBC count haemoglobin aberrant changes C-reactive pro- tein (CRP) ceruloplasmin levels observed arthritic animals also found be significantly restored MER treated Histopathology paw tissue showed formation cellular infiltration supplementation Thus results demonstrated potential benefi ciary adju- vant
