摘要: Abstract Background We have previously reported that the outcome of infants with functional single ventricle and total anomalous pulmonary venous connection is poor relative to other patients. Younger age at initial operation obstructed were found be risk factors for mortality. A review our recent experience was undertaken determine whether results in these patients are improving. Methods Medical records 18 admitted after 1997 reviewed (group B) compared previous group 73 between 1984 A). Data analyzed using a Cox proportional hazards model. Results Median first same both groups. The incidence not significantly different groups (29% versus 33%, p = 0.70). Early survival improved B ( 0.015). Only younger In current group, 5 undergone superior cavopulmonary one death, 3 Fontan completion no deaths, heart or heart-lung transplantation performed two deaths. Conclusions has years, but intermediate still approximately 50%. Selective management staged reconstructive surgery may result survival. Further study identify mortality improve selection appropriate each therapy.
