THE M 5.1 WEN'AN EARTHQUAKE OF JULY 4,2006

摘要: Through analysis, we found that the Wen'an earthquake has following characteristics: aftershocks are small with biggest of only M 1.5, belonging to isolated type earthquake; intensity is low, but perceptible area relatively large; macro-epicenter over 10km away from micro-epicenter; hypocenter deep; and fracture shows a normal fault slip. The explanation for these characteristics presented, which can be regarded as new evidence lithospheric thinning.
