摘要: Assessments of the key indicator species for West Coast Demersal Scalefish Resource (WCDSR; Australian dhufish Glaucosoma hebraicum, Snapper Pagrus auratus and Baldchin groper Choerodon rubescens) in 2007 2009 demonstrated that stocks were experiencing overfishing. Thus, between late early 2010, substantial changes made to management commercial recreational fisheries exploit WCDSR. These designed reduce catches entire suite demersal scalefish (and each species) by both sectors Bioregion (WCB) at least 50 % 2005/06 levels (the catch benchmark), allow recover. The current (third) stock assessment was based on age data collected 2008/09-2010/11 G. hebraicum P. 2007/08-2010/11 C. rubescens statistics fishing (including charter fishing) from 2008-2012. The compared estimates mortality (F) most recent period with several previous time periods against internationally accepted biological reference points determine whether there evidence any recovery. sampling this included when major being WCB recreational/charter species. As is relatively long-lived, it expected will take 10 years these before their show strong signs recovery, may substantially longer they fully recover (~15-20 years). Catches sector top 15 taken have been reduced less than benchmark. Although all reduced, those two species, rubescens, not below benchmark sectors.
