摘要: Abstract Failure of cross-ply laminates with damaged matrix is analysed and their load carrying capacity determined. Matrix damage often arises as a result environmental effects usually manifests itself in the form transverse cracks which extend across thickness ply. Existence such causes stiffness loss reduction ply strength leading to premature failure and/or shortened service life. This study aims at determining effect on laminated composites layer configurations. The are modeled aligned slit laminate plane. distribution assumed statistically homogeneous given crack density. theory used analysis takes into account different modes fibre well fact that tension compression sides behave differently because opening closing cracks. results for symmetrically, antisymmetrically unsymmetrically rectangular plates. problem parameters studied by plotting ratio cracked uncracked against plate aspect ratio, density relative thicknesses. It observed depends stacking sequence thicknesses layers.
