HIV testing patterns: where, why, and when were persons with AIDS tested for HIV?

摘要: Objective: To describe the location of, primary reason for, and time between first positive HIV test AIDS diagnosis in a sample of persons with newly diagnosed AIDS. Design: Interviews supplementing information routinely collected through case reporting. Setting: Eleven US states cities. Patients: Persons (2441) january 1990 December 1992. Main outcome measures: Location test, for testing, interval diagnosis. Results: Overall, were tested late their course infection: 36% within 2 months 51% 1 year Sixty-five per cent HIV-tested acute health-care settings: 33% hospitals, 28% physicians'offices, 4% emergency departments. Testing during hospitalization was most common among injecting drug users (43%) infected heterosexual contact (50%). primarily sought testing because illness (58%); other reasons included being known risk group (13%) having had HIV-infected sex partner (8%). least (1%).
