摘要: Objective: Smoking has been associated with several oral and systemic diseases. Despite their knowledge of the harms smoking, many patients keep on which may be related to nicotine dependence. Thus, aim this study was assess dependence among smoking at Ibirapuera University Dental Clinic. Methods: A cross-sectional involving 77 adult undergoing dental treatment conducted. structured questionnaire applied, where subjects were asked about habits demographic information. Then Fagerstrom Test Nicotine Dependence applied Exhaled carbon monoxide levels measured validate cigarette consumption reported by participants. Results: The a mean 13.7 cigarettes per day. Mean exposure time 26.7 years. Twenty-six (33.7%) exhaled above 21 ppm thus classified as heavy smokers. According Dependence, 44 (57.2%) nicotine-dependent, 64 (83.1%) interest stop in next 6 months, 80.5% would accept help from dentist quit smoking. significant correlation observed between amount consumed day number points obtained Dependence. Conclusion: majority considered but they order achieve goal.
