摘要: Habitat fragmentation reduces frugivorous bird abundance. Such a reduction may lead to in seed dispersal, thereby compromising seedling recruitment rate with far reaching consequences for plant population persistence. We assessed frugivory, germination, and rates fragmented forest of central Chile by comparing continuous four fragments surrounded pine plantations. Frugivory was 2.4 times higher than fragments. Seeds eaten birds germinated 1.7 3.7 non-eaten seeds from respectively. Non-eaten 2.2 those fragments, suggesting inbreeding depression. However, at were where no recruited the five years analysed. Therefore, despite negatively affected it did not translate into decreased fitness plants, thus highlighting importance considering overall processes leading reproductive success plants following anthropogenic disturbances.
