摘要: Computed tomography (CT) guided percutaneous biopsy is a frequently performed procedure to establish pathologic diagnosis in thoracic disease. While the most frequent complication of chest pneumothorax, hemothorax rare but potentially fatal complication. The purpose this study assess risk post hemothorax, its associated consequences, and describe reasonable precautions for minimizing risk. A retrospective chart review all biopsies completed at two affiliated institutions from January 1, 2006 June 30, 2011 was evaluate complications rates. total 830 were over five half year period. overall rate 34.1%, with majority being pneumothorax (32.5%). 4 confirmed hemothoraces (0.5%) occurred. onset variable three cases occurring immediately post-procedure while fourth occurred 15 hours later. Treatments included observation, tube thoracostomy, thoracotomy. In conclusion, serious which may be more common than previously reported.
