摘要: PURPOSE The aim of the present single-centre randomised controlled trial was to assess effect a behavioural sleep medicine (BSM) intervention on obstructive apnea (OSA) severity in patients who have been referred for new treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). METHODS After baseline assessment including ventilatory and anthropometric parameters, physical activity monitoring, 86 were overweight (BMI ≥ 25) had moderate-severe OSA apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) ≥ 15 into control group (CG; CPAP advice about weight loss) or an experimental (ExpG; BSM targeting eating behaviour). comprised 10 individual sessions dietician physiotherapist included behaviour change techniques such as goal setting self-monitoring. 6 months, recording parameters performed without CPAP. RESULTS In ExpG, 40% (n = 14) improved from severe moderate mild compared 16.7% CG (n = 6, p = 0.02). Further, lower AHI amount body fat at correlated improvement class. Being ExpG implied mean by 9.7 odds ratio 4.5 improving classification. CONCLUSIONS results highlight clinical importance lifestyle modifications conjunction OSA.
