摘要: The forests in the Central Hardwoods Region will be affected directly and indirectly by a changing climate over next 100 years. This assessment evaluates vulnerability of terrestrial ecosystems Illinois, Indiana, Missouri to range future climates. Information on current forest conditions, observed trends, projected changes, impacts was considered order assess change. Mesic upland were determined most vulnerable changes climate, whereas many systems adapted fire drought, such as open woodlands, savannas, glades, perceived less vulnerable. Projected associated ecosystem vulnerabilities have important implications for economically valuable timber species, forest-dependent wildlife plants, recreation, long-range planning.
