摘要: Summary The mossy fiber to CA3 pyramidal cell synapse (mf-CA3) provides a major source of excitation the hippocampus. Thus far, these glutamatergic synapses are well recognized for showing presynaptic, NMDA receptor-independent form LTP that is expressed as long-lasting increase transmitter release. Here, we show in addition this "classical" LTP, mf-CA3 can undergo characterized by selective enhancement receptor-mediated transmission. This potentiation requires coactivation and mGlu5 receptors postsynaptic calcium rise. Unlike classical expression is due PKC-dependent recruitment specifically via SNARE-dependent process. Having two mechanistically different forms may allow respond with more flexibility changing demands hippocampal network.
