摘要: The biosynthesis of poly(hydroxyalkanoates) (PHA) by Pseudomonas resinovorans from triglyceride substrates was investigated. Each triglyceride, whether animal fat or vegetable oil, supported cellular growth to relatively high average cell yields (3.3 ± 0.2 g/l). PHA ranged 1.1 g/l 2.1 g/l, representing approximately 45% the bacterial dry weight. repeat-unit composition polymers determined gas chromatography (GC) and GC/mass spectrometry β-hydroxyalkanoate methyl esters hydrolyzed polymers. With exception soybean oil (PHA-soy), each polyester composed β-hydroxyacyl moieties with chain lengths ranging C4 C14, C8 C10 being predominant species. PHA-soy contained an additional fraction (2%) C16 monomers. alkyl side-chains varying degrees unsaturation. coconut entirely saturated side-chains, whereas 4.2 mol% olefinic groups in its side-chains. increase degree side-chain unsaturation caused decreased melting temperatures, enthalpies fusion, glass transition temperatures. molar masses were constant 6.5 × 104 10.1 g/mol.
