摘要: BACKGROUND 1.5 million Kenyans are living with HIV/AIDS as per 2015 estimates. Though there is a notable decline in new HIV infections, continued effort still needed to develop an efficacious, accessible and affordable vaccine. vaccine clinical trials bear risks, hence need understand volunteer motivators for enrolment, retention follow-up. Understanding the factors that motivate volunteers participate trial can help strategize, refine targeting thus increase enrolment of future trials. The health belief model classifies into social benefits such 'advancing research' collaboration science, personal financial interests. METHOD A thematic analysis was carried out on data obtained from four conducted at KAVI-Institute Clinical Research Nairobi Kenya 2009 2015. Responses were Questionnaire administered during their screening visit research site. RESULTS Of 281 healthy, HIV-uninfected participating this study; 38% motivated by including, 31% 7% possible gains. In addition, 62% 20% who seeking family/society/world while 42% interested advancing research. CONCLUSION majority our site benefits, suggesting altruism be major contributor participation studies.
