German-African research cooperation : practices, problems and policies

摘要: Summary This paper provides some insights into the policies, practices and prob-lems of German-African co-operation in research projects conducted Af-rica. Differences interests, knowledge domains competences, economic, social political situations, a lack awareness thereof, power imbalances management skills can severely impede fruitful co-operation. These factors are compounded by institutional constraints German academic sector. Germany seems to be conspicuously absent as participant international debates (development) policies re-search between countries North South. Re-search funding at great variance with complex realities particularly African countries. A critical analysis prac-tices elsewhere could contribute revision current organisations Germany.
