摘要: Ergosterol seems to be not only the best-suited sterol maintain fungal membrane integrity and activity; there is evidence that this 24-alkylated also involved in critical non-membrane associated functions. A number of species contain steroid-binding proteins vertebrate steroid hormones seem affect morphogenesis. In article it speculated ergosterol may play a role yeast-to-mycelium transformation. The possible endogenous ligands growth morphogenesis discussed.
