The use of the Cowan M3 distribution for modelling roundabout flow

摘要: This paper analyses two methods for the estimate of parameters in M3 distribution. Both were derived by Sullivan DP and Troutbeck RJ (see IRRD 866429). The maximum likelihood method was found to give poor results, depending on deviance between distribution observed moments gave good results. If minimum headway fixed proportion free vehicles could be related traffic flow. These results used analysis two-lane distribution, generalised case, fit well data. It also predictions capacity.
