Evidence for resonant formation of Ca- in collisions of Rydberg and ground-state Ca atoms.

摘要: Relative yields of Ca[sup +] and [minus]] ions from thermal-energy collisions between highly excited *] 4[ital snd] [sup 1][ital D] Rydberg atoms Ca ground-state are measured as a function [ital n]. The take place within an effusive atomic beam. cross section for collision resulting in bound is expected to be large when the binding energy state nearly matches electron affinity Ca. We observe increase positive negative n]=25 only. This result strongly suggests that 24[plus minus]1.4 meV.
