摘要: Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is associated with foetal cardiac remodelling and dysfunction together increased risk of cardiovascular disease in adulthood. Experimental data concerning effects IUGR on cardiomyocyte microvascularization anatomy are inconsistent it unknown whether both ventricles similarly susceptible to utero undersupply. Foetal was induced pregnant rabbits at 25 days gestation by selective ligation uteroplacental vessels. echocardiography showed systolic diastolic body heart weight were significantly reduced response IUGR. Design-based stereology revealed a decrease number which only the left ventricle accompanied higher mean volume. The proportion mono- bi-nucleated cardiomyocytes unaltered between groups indicating similar maturation status. length capillaries offspring diminished but not right ventricles. differently affected placental insufficiency. While numbers ventricles, hypertrophic alterations rather ventricular adaptation These unequal structural changes may be related loading developmental differences
