摘要: Among patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death regardless ethnicity. However, recent studies suggest that special considerations should be taken into account when caring for African Americans T2D, as risk factors, incidence, prevalence, and mortality differ from other populations. This review highlights literature supporting unique characteristics managing in (AAs) T2D. have an increased developing T2D a higher prevalence compared non-Hispanic whites. Certain including hypertension obesity, are particularly challenging influence CVD mortality. Treatment regimens lifestyle modification, pharmacologic interventions, surgery to manage all populations may not produce equitable outcomes Americans. Particularly, newer outcome trials sodium-glucose co-transporter (SGLT2) inhibitors glucose-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists disparate effect estimates major adverse event reduction Thus, research focused on paramount importance. In summary, there numerous discrepancies diagnosis, assessment treatment Future investigations must lead improved through evidence-based care if we continue lower burden USA.
