摘要: Background Peripheral arterial disease is a relevant public health problem associated with increased risk of morbimortality. Most the patients this condition are asymptomatic. Therefore, development accessible biochemical markers seems to be necessary anticipate diagnosis. Our hypothesis that asymptomatic subjects objectively confirmed femoral artery atherosclerosis could distinguished from control by gene expression analysis in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). Materials and methods A total 37 males over 50 years old were recruited at University Clinic Navarra (Spain). Nineteen participants free atherosclerotic vascular 18 presented subclinical defined means Doppler ultrasound. PBMC isolated RNA extracted. panel atherosclerotic-related genes evaluated Taqman low-density array. Results In univariate logistic regression models, we found direct relationship between IL4, ITGAM TLR2 levels atherosclerosis, even when models adjusted for age hypertension prevalence. Multivariate showed elevated IL4 intimately after adjusting same potential confounders. Conclusions Current data suggest PBMC, particular expression, useful tool diagnosis patients. Furthermore, no differences cardiovascular factors except hypertension, results point immune inflammatory deregulation as feature atherosclerosis.
