摘要: Smaller benthic and planktonic foraminifera from the clastic sediments of Pazin Basin (Istria, Croatia) were studied in order to obtain more data about paleoceanographic conditions that existed Middle Eocene Dinaric foreland basin. The succession investigated corresponds foraminiferal zones Globigerapsis kugleri/Morozovella aragonensis (P11), Morozovella lehneri (P12), beckmanni (P13). Benthic assemblages are dominated by epifaunal trochospiral genera suggesting oligotrophic mesotrophic moderately oxygenated bottom waters. Planktonic indicate eutrophic surface waters, with increased eutrophication upper part section. Water depth, based on ratio between recognized species cosmopolitan foraminifera, was estimated have been 900 1200 m. basin elongated open marine currents both sides allowing good circulation ventilation water.
