摘要: Disability is conceived as a person–context interaction. Physical and social environments are identified intervention targets for improving participation independence. In comparison to the body of research on place health, relatively few reports have been published residential disability in health sciences literature. We reviewed studies evaluating socioenvironmental correlates disability. Searches were conducted Medline, Embase CINAHL databases peer-reviewed articles between 1997 2014. found many environmental factors be associated with disability, particularly area-level socioeconomic status rurality. However, diversity conceptual methodological approaches such yields limited basis comparing studies. Conceptual inconsistencies operational measures disagreement potentially affect understanding influences. Similarly, greater precision study designs likely improve inference. Consistent generalisable support influences general adult population scarce.
