摘要: [1] This paper addresses several key issues regarding the statistics of Langmuir wave fields E in planetary foreshocks by presenting (1) a detailed theory for electric field strength probability distributions averaged over Earth's foreshock and (2) first analyses observed outer planets. First, existing is extended generalized, describing detail how lognormal P(log E) specific location can be aggregated to give power law (log E). The good agreement with observations foreshock, implies that stochastic growth (SGT) likely relevant. planets Saturn, Uranus, Neptune are then analyzed compared. characteristics (logE) agree qualitatively each other Earth, these collapse onto single curve when scaled on assumption ratio energy density thermal plasma constant heliocentric distance. developed Earth also found well planet. evidence thus physics electrons waves all essentially identical consistent SGT.
