摘要: The United Kingdom Acid Waters Monitoring Network (AWMN) was established in 1988 to determine the ecological impact of acidic emissions control policy on acid-sensitive lakes and streams. AWMN data have been used explore a range causal linkages necessary connect changes chemical and, ultimately, biological recovery. Regional scale reductions sulphur (S) deposition found had an immediate influence surface water chemistry, including increases acid neutralising capacity, pH alkalinity declines aluminium toxicity. These turn can be linked aquatic biota which are consistent with "recovery" responses. A continuation current programme is essential order better understand apparent non-linearity between nitrogen (N) runoff, substantial rise organic concentrations, likely impacts forecast climate change other potential constraints further improvement.
