摘要: Fourteen realizations of Saffman-Taylor flow at small-viscosity contrast have been measured under nearly identical conditions. With control-parameter fluctuations \ensuremath{\lesssim}0.15%, we observe 20% in the crudest measures patterns and much larger strengths individual wave numbers a modal analysis for this broadband instability. The initial disturbance can be observed as it propagates toward center cell from side walls. As go over linear to nonlinear regime, several quantitative show abrupt change. In regime not only fail progress single-finger steady state but fingers actually tendency evolve narrower distribution lengths.
