摘要: This paper introduces document theory as a mechanism to analyze intimate platforms sociotechnical systems. The theory, developed in documentation studies and applied HCI, focuses on the casting mold or how agents, through particular means modes, produce documents that govern social relations. We studied process of creating profile by identifying mapping out fields asked among ten most popular online dating apps US. By looking at profiles their creation documentation, we argue current these is designed extract profit via invisibilization labor digital networks leading emergence constrained rational market agent. Our study illustrates makes visible assumptions technological systems, calling us imagine alternatives beyond incremental design changes given broader structural realities power.
