摘要: Abstract Anecdotal experience suggests that such common judgment tasks as performance evaluation typically evoke nonlinear and noncompensatory information processing strategies. Yet, the simple linear model is used to judges' policies. Two studies using policy capturing (“paper people”) paradigm are reported here. In first study, nursing supervisors evaluated profiles of registered nurse licensed vocational performance. second faculty members nontenured scholarly productivity. Conclusions drawn from these were (a) most judges appeared use strategies, (b) for many judges, nonlinearity was compatible with a strategy, (c) regression methods capable detecting in series judgments, at least context. Implications results work appraisal discussed.
