摘要: Remote sensing has long been identified as a technology capable of supporting the development wildlife habitat maps over large areas. However, progress constrained by underdeveloped linkages between resource managers with extensive knowledge ecology and remote scientists backgrounds in geography. This article attempts to traverse that gap (i) clarifying imprecise commonly misunderstood concept ‘habitat’, (ii) exploring recent use previous habitat-mapping exercises, (iii) reviewing toolset developed for extracting information from optical satellite imagery, (iv) outlining framework linking ecological needs techniques.
