Geographic Dissection of the Twitter Network

摘要: Geography plays an important role in shaping societal interactions the offline world. However, as more and social occur online via networking sites like Twitter Facebook, users can interact with others unconstrained by their geolocations, raising question: does geography still matter networks? In this paper, we attempt to address question dissecting network based on users’ geolocations investigating how geolocation impacts participation Twitter, including connections information they exchange them. Our in-depth analysis reveals that continues have a significant impact user network. The influence of could be potentially explained shared national, linguistic, cultural backgrounds from same geographic neighborhood.
